PERFECT
FALL LANDSCAPING PRODUCT:
ANCHOR BORDER STONE IS AN EASY-TO-INSTALL, EARTH-FRIENDLY OPTION
FOR TREE RINGS, BORDERS & GARDEN PLANTERS
Minneapolis,
MN . . . The Anchor Border Stone retaining wall system is
the perfect fall landscaping project for the do-it-yourself (DIY)
homeowner. With installation instructions and a few tools, anyone
can construct straight and curved sections of up to a foot above grade
for tree rings, borders and raised planters. Economical and easy-to-install,
Anchor Border Stone is part of the Anchor Residential Wall System
family of products available at most hardware chains nationally.
Anyone
Can Install Anchor Border Stone:
Anchor
Border Stone blocks are even more light weight than other Anchor Wall
System blocks. Installation only requires everyday hand tools, including
a shovel, tape measure, hammer, chisel, carpenter's level, stakes,
string line, safety glasses, gloves, pencil and square. Any person
of usual strength can install a tree ring or garden border using Anchor
Border Stone without professional assistance. Do-it-yourselfers, both
male and female, will like the easy-to-read instructions.
"Our
research indicates that just like other household decisions, the female
in the household is integrally part of the buying decision on landscaping
materials," says Glenn Bolles, president of Anchor Wall Systems. "Women
like Anchor Border Stone because each block only weighs 14 pounds
and are easy to install. It's simply beautiful without all of the
hassle of other landscaping products on the market for the do-it-yourselfer."
Installation
Ease:
Similar to other Anchor Wall System blocks, Anchor Border Stone
blocks feature the Anchor Pinless System®, a rear lip on the back
of each Anchor block that guides each block into place. The System
insures quick installation, accurate alignment and precise setback
using no mortar or pins. A guide created by Anchor Wall Systems explains
block dimensions (Border Stone is four inches high by eight-and-a
half inches wide by five-and-a half inches deep). The guide also calculates
the amount of Anchor Border Stone units required to complete a two,
six, 10 or 12-inch high course by section length varying from five
to 30 feet in length. An Anchor Border Stone wall has a maximum height
of one foot or 12 inches.
How
Easy Is It?
To begin a project, a homeowner simply stakes out the outline
for the tree ring, border or planter they are planning. For curved
sections, a garden hose can be laid out for the contour. The do-it-yourselfer
simply digs a trench along this line about three-inches deep and 12-inches
wide. The Anchor Border Stone units are then positioned side-by-side
on the prepared base and level in both directions using a carpenter's
level. Assembly continues by placing units in staggered course, called
"running bond," and pulling each unit forward until secure. The installer
fills each course with soil as it is laid and compacts the soil. It's
that simple.
Beauty
that Blends Into Your Landscape:
Beautiful warm earth tones and natural, rock face textures make
Anchor Border Stone blend into the surrounding landscape rather than
dominate it. Environmentally friendly, Anchor Border Stone is made
of high-quality concrete, so it resists deterioration and is low-maintenance.
