Manufactured to the highest quality standards, Anchor brand products are beautiful, economical and long-lasting. They provide an attractive, environmentally sound alternative to landscape timbers and rock walls while helping to control soil movement and erosion. Anchor Wall Systems is a sister company of Anchor Block Company, one of the oldest and largest concrete block manufacturers in the Midwestern part of the United States. A Proud History Anchor Block Company was formed by President and CEO Glenn Bolles through the acquisition of three venerable concrete manufacturing firms in Minnesota. In 1982, Bolles acquired Oscar Roberts Concrete Products Company, a firm that dated back to the early 1900s – and a time when house basements were dug by hand and concrete basement blocks were hauled to building sites by horses. Bolles continued to grow the company with the acquisition of Anchor Block Company in 1988, followed by the purchase of R. & W. Block Company in 1995. The two businesses operate under the name Anchor Block Company. Anchor Block Company owns four manufacturing plants in Minnesota. It also owns Zenith Products Company, a manufacturing facility specializing in burnished concrete products. The newest plant, a state-of-the-art facility, is the most versatile, productive and automated plant the company owns, and it has the capacity to meet the demand for today’s custom colors and shapes. The concrete block industry has come a long way in 80 years, with Anchor Block Company in the forefront. In the early 1900s, only 10 shapes of concrete block were available. And just 15 years ago, block still came in only one color: gray. Today more than 700 shapes and colors are available, and concrete products are adding color, design and versatility to homes, businesses and public green spaces. Building on a Solid Reputation In 1989, innovators at Anchor Block Company invented a pinless, mortarless retaining wall system called Anchor Diamond®. With the retaining wall industry just beginning to grow, Bolles saw an opportunity to bring the product to commercial and residential markets around the world and launched Anchor Wall Systems that same year. Anchor Wall Systems quickly became one of the leading developers and licensors of concrete segmental retaining wall systems. Today, it is the provider of choice for a growing number of manufacturers worldwide. The retaining wall business has exploded in the last 10 years, growing annually at 40 to 50 percent. Today the company offers an expanded product line and works with more than 45 manufacturer licensees in 16 countries to deliver its retaining wall solutions to customers around the globe. The company’s products are supplied by authorized manufacturers in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, the Philippines, Republic of Fiji, China, South Korea, England, Spain, Sweden, Northern Ireland, Portugal, Indonesia and South America. Anchor leads the industry in providing technical and sales support for its licensees.
